Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
September 21 — 7:31 a.m. Deputies and state patrol responded to a domestic disturbance report at a Skamokawa home. An individual was taken into custody. 8:48 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale woman who had passed out while walking to her car. 9:03 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported an Elochoman Valley resident to the hospital. 10:24 a.m. A deputy responded and found everything was secure after an alarm was activated at a home in eastern Wahkiakum County. 2:29 p.m. A caller reported that she had been bitten by a dog on Puget Island. 5:12 p.m. A caller reported that there appeared to be activity at an abandoned house in the Elochoman Valley. 6:07 p.m. Three men were seen dumping things from a truck into a ditch in the Rosburg area. 7:11 p.m. A caller requested that a deputy escort her while she went to a home to pick up her things. She called later to say she would go on her own. 7:55 p.m. A caller reported a trespasser at an Elochoman Valley address when an individual had shown up unannounced in an attempt to collect her belongings. Deputies advised both parties. 10:41 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet business. A deputy responded and reported that the building was secure.
September 22 — 10:17 a.m. Deputies attempted to locate a juvenile who had run away. 11:14 a.m. A child attempted to locate a parent by calling 911. 12:32 p.m. A caller requested a civil standby while she collected her things from a home in the Elochoman Valley. She was advised that she needed a judge’s order. 1:12 p.m. A vehicle was repossessed in the Algier Creek area. 4:39 p.m. The Skamokawa Fire Department was notified when a sewer alarm was activated at a Skamokawa residence. 5:21 p.m. Deputies, State Patrol and the District 4 Fire Department responded to the report of a tanker truck blocking a lane on the detour in the Elochoman Valley. The tank appeared to be leaking.
September 23 — 8:54 a.m. A theft was reported at a Cathlamet business. 9:24 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with back pain. 1:22 p.m. A warrant was served and an individual was taken into custody in Cathlamet. 1:30 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded when a caller reported black smoke coming from a yard in Rosburg. The homeowner put out the fire after being advised about the burn ban. 3:14 p.m. A caller who was in a school zone in Cathlamet reported that drug paraphernalia had fallen out of a car in front of him when the passenger had gotten out of the vehicle. A deputy determined that the item, which had broken on impact, was not on school property. 6:25 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who may have broken an arm during a fall. 10:59 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when a caller reported the smell of smoke just east of County Line Park. Cowlitz dispatch was notified.
September 24 — 8:09 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire in the Elochoman Valley. It turned out to be an illegal burn. 9:16 a.m. A caller reported that a gun had been stolen from a Deep River residence. 9:26 a.m. A gun was found in the bathroom of a Rosedale business. 9:53 a.m. A caller reported that a truck and trailer had broken down at the western end of the Elochoman Valley detour. 11:01 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that someone had been outside her home during the night and had spoken her name. 4:45 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver headed west on SR 4, just east of County Line Park. 9:31 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident. 10:00 p.m. A caller complained that a bicyclist pulling a cart was barely visible on SR 4. A little later, the bicyclist was reported to be camping just east of County Line Park. 10:09 p.m. A caller reported finding a vehicle on an east county road that had been stripped.
September 25 — 12:15 a.m. A caller reported a man at County Line Park with a trailer advertising marijuana. 10:12 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that the neighbor’s dogs had attacked his dog. 4:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance came to the aid of a Cathlamet child who was bleeding heavily after getting cut with glass. 5:44 p.m. A business in the Elochoman Valley reported a theft. 7:16 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a deer dragging its back leg. 8:51 p.m. A motor home went into a ditch on the detour through the Elochoman Valley. 10:12 p.m. A Grays River property owner reported that someone was trespassing. A neighbor investigated and discovered that they were elk hunters. They left the property, but not before a vehicle broke down. The hunters said they would be back in the morning.
September 26 — 11:56 a.m. A deputy was requested to do a drive through at County Line Park while there is no park host. 7:30 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island address. An individual who was responsible for the building was en route. 8:32 p.m. A caller reported that his car had been hit while it was parked at his Alger Creek home. 9:56 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained about the noise coming from his neighbor’s shop and wanted to know if there was a noise ordinance and if it could be enforced. He was advised that there was no noise ordinance.
September 27 — 3:59 a.m. An east county resident reported that a man was at their door and ringing their doorbell. The individual was seen leaving the area by a neighbor and headed towards County Line Park. A deputy looked for the subject but was unable to locate him. 4:57 a.m. A caller reported that he had hit two bears on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. 2:29 p.m. A caller reported that a juvenile from Longview whose parents were looking for her was at an Elochoman Valley home. 4:39 p.m. A caller reported the theft of two rifles at an Elochoman Valley home. 6:34 p.m. Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a Skamokawa home. 7:13 p.m. A caller reported that a deer had been hit and was still alive in the middle of a Puget Island road.
September 28 — 5:53 a.m. A vehicle had gotten stuck and was blocking traffic on the detour in the Elochoman Valley.
