The Toutle Lake Ducks handed the Wahkiakum Mules a 32-6 defeat in their Central League football opener last Friday.
The hosts scored on a 29-yard run in the first quarter and runs of 40, 87 and four yards in the second quarter, in which they gained 161 yards.
The Mules stiffened in the second half, but Toutle scored on a 53-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Sophomore quarterback Zach Brown put the Mules on the scoreboard with a 14-yard touchdown run at 6:32 of the fourth quarter. The conversion try failed.
The Mules gained 149 yards rushing and 19 in the air for 168 yards. Toutle Lake piled up 357 yards on the ground.
Hank Ferguson gained 52 yards for the Mules; Brown had 42, Cody Terpsma and Joey Moore 23 each, and James Anderson nine.
On defense, Brown made five tackles and five assists; Ferguson had 4/5, Alexander Merrill 4/2, Anderson 3/5, Bryce Good 3/1, Kurtis Bergseng 2/4, Dylan Ahmed 2/1, and Evan Quigley and Terpsma 1/1. Ferguson and Brown intercepted Duck passes, and Ferguson blocked a kick.
The Mules will host the Napavine Tigers this Friday at 7 p.m.
