Ham radio class coming to Cathlamet this month

A two day class will be held to prepare people to take the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Amateur Radio License test to receive their Technician License and operating tips.

The class will be held on Saturday, September 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, September 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints, 35 Messinger Hill Drive in Cathlamet.

The test fee is $15. Participants will need the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Ham Radio License Manual. The Cathlamet Library has some manuals on hand and they can also be purchased online.

Instructors are Delvin, N7QMT and Phil, AC7NB. They are nationally recognized ARRL instructors of the year for 2011. They have been teaching ham radio classes for over 20 years and have taught over 1200 students.
