Children's summer reading program at library ends

Children at Cathlamet Public Library have enjoyed finding out about assorted heroes this summer, at the Every Hero Has a Story-themed collaborative summer library program. Hero types included: historic, children, tall tale, mythological, community (fire, police and military veteran), animal, and superheroes with their sidekicks.

Activities at the programs included stories, crafts, games, and a “superhero training camp” where children made costumes, lifted a huge “weight,” “flew” and crawled through a “laser field.” The programs concluded with a hero movie and popcorn party, with door prizes and program T-shirts for children who met their reading goals.

Anyone who signed up for the program, but has not turned in the list of titles they read, should contact Librarian Carol Blix at 795-3254.

“Don’t miss next summer’s reading program fun!,” she declared.
