Altoona resident Sam Valdez, who is being held on a $10 million bail and has been charged with solicitation to commit murder in the first degree, delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver, waived his right to a speedy trial on Monday.
His attorney, Bruce Finlay, recently hired a private investigator and asked for more time to go over discovery.
Valdez’s trial date, initially scheduled for September 14, was moved to October 5 at 9 a.m. Pretrial is on the calendar for August 31.
