Sheriff's Report, August 13, 2015

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August 3 — 10:07 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that someone had broken all the lights behind their home. 10:35 a.m. A caller reported being bitten by a dog in the Elochoman Valley. 1:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Skamokawa resident who had fallen off an ATV. Life Flight was activated. 1:53 p.m. A caller complained about kids playing in a Skamokawa roadway. 3:25 p.m. A lost dog was found on Puget Island.

August 4 — 7:07 a.m. A caller reported a loose horse in the Skamokawa area. 7:29 p.m. A Grays River resident was concerned about hearing activity in the area despite neighboring homes being unoccupied. A deputy investigated but was unable to locate the source of the noise. 7:32 a.m. A caller reported that someone left a vehicle in the Elochoman Valley after it had broken down the day before. A deputy investigated and found that the vehicle belonged to someone in Longview.

August 5 — 7:17 a.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading eastbound on SR 4 near Flandersville. 8:25 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who had fallen from a height of at least 10 feet. 9:42 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that someone had vomited on and into his mailbox. 10:05 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that someone had backed into some mailboxes and knocked them over. 10:39 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having trouble breathing. 11:58 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that someone had tampered with the lug nuts on his truck and taken gas from a boat. 1:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing elderly Puget Island resident. 1:25 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported a strong smell of sewage coming from a nearby property. 1:26 p.m. A caller reported that a family was being “butchered” at a home in the Elochoman Valley. A deputy made contact with the family and all was well. 2:06 p.m. A caller reported a disabled vehicle blocking a Skamokawa road. 3:45 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 4:51 p.m. The sheriff’s department was requested to assist with an inspection at a Elochoman Valley address. 5:28 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on an Elochoman Valley road. 9:38 p.m. A deputy was asked to take a look around after a Cathlamet business was found open.

August 6 — 7:52 a.m. A caller reported that a horse was loose and on a Skamokawa roadway. 8:53 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having a seizure. 10:03 a.m. A caller reported finding a pile of clothes by the Elochoman River. 10:52 a.m. Deputies and the Skamokawa ambulance responded to the report that a juvenile male was fighting with family members and that someone was sick or injured in Skamokawa. 3:21 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had bed sores. 8:38 p.m. A caller reported that someone had taken lawn ornaments and hoses from their Puget Island home. 8:47 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a missing dog. 8:48 p.m. A caller reported that a large vehicle had run a stop sign in Cathlamet.

August 7 — 9:34 a.m. A caller reported cows on a Puget Island roadway. 10:03 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a motorist who had pulled into a Grays River resident’s driveway. She was having chest pains. 10:10 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported a theft. 3:09 p.m. A caller from a Cathlamet business complained that an individual was causing problems. 4:44 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a suspicious individual had returned to the area and was at a park in Cathlamet. She was told to take her child in the house and lock her doors. 8:28 p.m. A caller reported that he had almost struck a cow while driving down a Puget Island road. 9:56 p.m. A caller from a Cathlamet business reported that an individual was causing problems.

August 8 — 12:51 a.m. The District 4 Fire Department and deputies responded to a brush fire in the Beaver Creek area. 11:44 a.m. A caller reported that a row of mailboxes had been destroyed in the Rosedale area. 12:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who had a leg injury. 1:15 p.m. A Little Cape Horn resident reported that someone had gotten into her mail. 1:17 p.m. A caller reported a transient wandering down a Cathlamet street. 4:40 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious individual looking into mailboxes in the Rosedale area. 4:50 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that someone had stolen his railroad ties. 5:29 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that his neighbor’s cattle were in his field. 8:00 p.m. Assistance was requested when a juvenile ran away from the Naselle Youth Camp. 11:01 p.m. A caller from a Cathlamet business reported that an individual was causing problems. The owner told the individual that if he returned he would be charged with trespassing.

August 9 — 12:16 p.m. A Skamokawa resident complained that someone was repeatedly cutting the rope that he used to tie up his horse in his field. 12:48 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that her 18year-old granddaughter had been missing for two days. 3:05 p.m. A caller reported that an individual had violated a protection order in the Elochoman Valley. The individual was taken into custody. 10:19 p.m. A burglary was reported at a Rosedale business.
