National Night Out set for next Tuesday

The Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office invites people to celebrate National Night Out next Tuesday.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live. Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.

"This year in Wahkiakum County, we again encourage everyone to get together with their neighbors on the evening of August 4, building community relationships," said program spokesperson Kim Sharp. "If you would like Sheriff Howie and/or deputies to visit your neighborhood’s event, please call 795-3242 (Cathlamet) or 465-2202 (Johnson Park/West End) and give them the location and hours of your event."
