Long Beach Rodeo to be held this weekend

The Peninsula Saddle Club presents their 70th annual Long Beach Rodeo on July 25 and 26, sponsored by Brim’s Farm & Garden returning as main sponsor. The festivities begin with a rodeo parade through downtown Long Beach at 6:30 p.m., on Friday night. On Saturday, start the day with a cowboy breakfast served from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. each morning in the clubhouse.

The Northwest Professional Rodeo starts each day at 1 p.m. It will feature top cowboys and cowgirls in the northwest competing in Bareback, Saddle Bronc, and Bull Riding, Breakaway Roping, Calf Roping, Team Roping, Steer Wrestling, and Barrel Racing. Last year had over 125 contestants vying for part of the $13,000 prize money.

“Family Night” will start directly after the bull riding on Saturday. This is where the kids get to compete in Stick Horse Races, Hat Race, Bag Race, and the Famous Hangman Race. Free and fun for the whole family.

BBQ burgers, chicken and hot dogs will be served all day. There will be a beer garden and vendor booths selling food, jewelry, cowboy hats, and metal art. There will also be souvenir t-shirts and sweatshirts on sale.

Pre-sale tickets may be purchased in advance at Long Beach Pharmacy. Tickets may also be purchased at the rodeo grounds, located at 6403 Sandridge Road. Adults $10, Seniors $9, Children 6-12 $5, and children 5 and under are free. Parking is free.
