News from Naselle:
It looks like Laura is feeling a little better and Mochas & More is open again for your favorite coffees and snacks. Stop in and give her a thumbs up after what sounds like a pretty painful procedure. Glad you are up and running again, Laura.
I don’t know about you but I like to shop local. There is a new business in town and if you drive into Naselle you can’t miss this one. It’s called NW Sawyers and the team doing the sawing and constructing some really unique items on site are Rob, Ron and Rolland Day. Check them out as you drive through, For more info on their projects you can call 360 484-3938, or just stop in. The address is 992 SR 4 in Naselle.
Westend news:
The annual Community Picnic/Potluck will be held this coming Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park. Free hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided by Johnson Park. Bring a dish to share and spend a relaxing afternoon. The ball field will be available for a friendly game or two, or maybe throw a Frisbee with your friends. How about listening to our local balladeer, Joel Fitts play a few tunes and show off some of the EMS equipment. You can bring your own non alcoholic beverages if you wish or we will have pop and water for sale. Hope to see you there.
After you have lunch at Johnson Park and a little fun, why not head over the the Historic Deep River Church in Deep River for an early evening potluck as well. This is an open invitation for a chance to see the interior of one of the oldest, beautiful historic churches around. The event begins at 3 p.m. with a short service including hymns. Sounds like a fun day, good food and my favorite—-no cooking.
The Grays River Grange Weekly Market starts next Tuesday, 2-6 p.m. in the Grays River Grange #124 building on SR 4 in Grays River. There is always delicious fruits and veggies at very reasonable prices. My favorite place to purchase my produce during our local growing season. Shop local!
Don’t forget the annual Pig Roast/Potluck and Campout coming up next weekend in Echo Meadow located at 4491 SR 4 West in Rosburg. Everyone is welcome. Please bring a dish or two to share as there is usually a large crowd. The pig will be roasted and ready on Saturday afternoon, August 1st. Poul and Zinaida Toftemark have been doing this for many years, sharing their blessings with the community and this year is a special, blessed celebration for them as they celebrate the homecoming of their son, Elmer as well as their wedding anniversary.
Bring your own chairs, beverages and a smile for your neighbors and friends. A huge thank you to the Toftemarks for this ongoing tradition.
The Free Friday Night movie in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park is an old classic from 1933 in black and white about a scientist who discovers a means of becoming invisible and ends up murderously insane. I don’t know about you but some of these oldies are much better than the new movies, and usually conjure memories of years past. Won’t you join us at 7:00 p.m. this Friday evening?
Concessions are also available with popcorn, pop and candy with a free refill on your popcorn during the intermission.
The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets every week in the Roaburg Hall for a home cooked meal that is prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteer crew. Delicious food and good company.
On Thursdays a senior meal is also available at the above location and is sponsored by CAP. Lunch for both days is served at noon,
