Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Naselle-Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting on July 21. Following a special budget hearing at 5:30 p.m., the regular meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.
After approving the appointments of new board members Lonnie Eaton and Amy Hunt to fill vacancies created by the resignations of Steve Gacke and Josh Holt, the following personnel matters were addressed:
--Rob Dalton was hired as middle school girls’ basketball coach;
--Haleigh See was hired as middle school girls’ basketball and middle school volleyball coach;
--Jim Moten and Karl Smith were hired as middle school football coaches.
The board also approved the hire of Nathan Bruce as bus driver and a leave of absence for Rob Dalton as middle school volleyball coach. Stephanie Gudmundsen was hired as open gym supervisor.
In unfinished business, the board adopted new policies for waiving certain graduation requirements and holding school board meetings in Grays River during the months of December, April and August (beginning with the 2015-16 school year). Also adopted was a local-level policy for appealing grades and re-taking courses.
In new business, the board adopted the budget at $5,872,891 in projected expenditures and $5,881,431 in projected revenues. Additional business included approving classified staff contracts, the adoption of a K-12 English/language arts curriculum, and contracts with ESD 112 for various student and district-wide services. Additional action included adopting school board and the superintendent’s goals for the 2015-16 school year and approving a contract with Pacific County for school nursing services.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for August 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the middle school commons.
