Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Passes will be on sale at Bald Eagle Festival
Wow! Only five weeks until fair. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Hope to see everyone at Bald Eagle Day; the Fair Royalty will be out selling fair passes and raffle tickets that day. The fair will have a booth so stop by and say hi and pick up your fair book if you haven't got one yet. Check out the entertainment line up. We are still in need of a Rabbit Superintendent, if you are interested please let me know.
The second leg of the Silver Buckle Series will be July 25. I would like to thank the following Sponsors: Cowlitz River Rigging, Bank of the Pacific, Matt's Custom Meats, Moon Valley Farms, Cathlamet Dental, Skamokawa Resort, and Sam Longtain Construction. Without their support this event would not be possible. So thank you, thank you.
Don't forget that animal entries are due July 24 by 4 p.m. Check your fair book for all entry days. Fair entries are due Monday and Tuesday of fair week so make sure you have the right day.
After reading letters to the editor of the Eagle and some comments I have heard, I would like to let the people of Wahkiakum County know that for the last two years the county fair has been paying its own way. Last year the county spent money on improving the buildings; other than that we are self sufficient. As far as the levy is concerned, it is not only for the county fair. It would help fund a lot of other things, too. So if you are thinking the fair should be retired I would disagree. The fair is a place for old friends and new friends to get together.
