Juvenile sentenced for role in thefts

Last Wednesday, Judge Michael Sullivan ruled on a final count and sentenced Christian C.J. Lorenzo, 17, to 195 weeks in a juvenile detention facility for his role in the theft of chickens on Puget Island and other miscellaneous offenses.

Lorenzo was convicted on five out of six counts. Count one was burglary in the second degree; count two was the trafficking of stolen property in the first degree; count four was the unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree; count five was the possession of a controlled substance; and count six was the possession of stolen property in the third degree. Count three, the theft of a firearm, was dismissed.

Counts one and two came with a minimum sentence of 52 weeks and a maximum sentence of 65 weeks. Counts four and five each carried a sentence of 15 weeks minimum and 36 weeks maximum. He was given 30 days for count six. Each count will be served consecutively at Grays Harbor Detention Center in Aberdeen. Lorenzo was given credit for 110 days already served and will be considered a juvenile until the age of 21.

The financial loss to Janet White, in regard to the stolen chickens, has yet to be determined, and Lorenzo will return to court for a restitution hearing on August 17.
