Workforce council launches vet programs

WorkSource will hold information sessions beginning in July to introduce a new program for individuals unemployed longer than 27 weeks that are interested in training for jobs in tech or manufacturing.

Called RebootNW, the program will pair qualified individuals with career coaches to create personalized plans towards full-time employment. Plans might include an intensive two-week training, job shadowing, networking and education. Participants may be eligible to earn-while-they-learn through paid internships and on-the-job training opportunities.

To be considered for the program, an individual must:

Be unemployed for at least 27 consecutive weeks or underemployed, meaning they lost a job during the recession and have not been able to obtain a position at a similar level or rate of pay, or an unemployed veteran or veteran-eligible spouse, out of work for any amount of time,

Be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED,

Be a resident of Clark, Cowlitz or Wahkiakum counties, and

Have sufficient time available to dedicate to training or education.

Applicants must be interested in technology or manufacturing positions, such as:

Information technology/software,

Computer programmers,

Computer developers, systems software or applications,

Computer support specialists,

Network and computer systems support specialists,

Manufacturing,

Managers (operations, industrial production, analysts),

First-line supervisors of production/operating workers,

Engineers (electrical, mechanical, industrial, etc.),

Engineering technicians,

Machinists, CNC operators/programmers, tool and die makers,

Machine operators, and/or

Industrial machinery mechanics and maintenance.
