Archive center hits 10th anniversary

Check out the multi family ESA Alpha Theta garage sale this weekend on Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 1124 Hiway 4, milepost 7, in Naselle. There will be lots of clothing for children as an added feature.

The Appelo Archive Center will host an open house reception on Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in honor of the center’s 10th anniversary. This dream of Carlton Appelo has really made its mark on our community, featuring so many photos, books, historical memorabilia, and wonderful volunteers to help show visitors around the center. Please join in helping to celebrate 10 years of growth and education for our community.

The Free Friday Night Movie this week in the Grays River Valley Center is one that I am really looking forward to seeing, a biopic about the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history. There was much more to this true American hero than his skill with a rifle. The U.S. Navy SEAL sniper is sent to Iraq with one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and, as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname "Legend." His reputation also grows behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family at home, our hero serves through four tours of duty in Iraq, becoming emblematic of the SEAL creed to "leave no man behind." But upon returning home, Chris finds that it is the war he can't leave behind.

This 2014 show is rated R for mature audiences. Concessions are also available with popcorn, candy and pop. The show starts at 7 p.m.

Fred Lehr, a sponsor and donor of much of the high quality exercise equipment is calling on all those interested in the topic of health, fitness and the proper techniques of equipment use and maintenance in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park. A preliminary exercise and fitness meeting will be held in the exercise room on June 27 at 3 p.m. Everyone interested is invited to attend.
