Sheriff's Report, June 18, 2015

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

June 8 — 8:01 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 9:46 a.m. A caller in Cathlamet reported that an unknown alarm had been activated nearby and had been going off for some time. 10:30 a.m. A Cathlamet resident was concerned that a transient might be living nearby. 11:16 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that an individual had violated an order of protection. 11:29 a.m. A caller reported that a driver left after striking her vehicle in the parking lot of a Cathlamet school. 12:38 p.m. A caller reported two motorcyclists moving at speeds up to 100 mph on the west end of the county. 12:38 p.m. A driver was taken into custody after a vehicle stop. 1:08 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had been parked on a Cathlamet street for a long time, blocking traffic. After being contacted, the owner moved the vehicle. 4:11 p.m. After finding a neighbor’s prescription bottle inside and her ladder leaning against the side of the house, a Cathlamet resident reported that someone had broken into her garage. A neighbor denied being in the garage and stated that it had been open all weekend. 6:28 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported receiving threats over the phone. A deputy explained how she might obtain a protection order from the court.

June 9 — 1:44 p.m. A caller reported a lost sail board near Cape Horn. 5:23 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported hearing shots fired. 7:51 p.m. A caller reported a teenager on a go-kart driving up and down a Puget Island road without a helmet.

June 10 — 11:57 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Cathlamet resident who was feeling dizzy and had a headache. 11:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having an anxiety attack. 12:19 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a junk vehicle. 1:36 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 1:38 p.m. A Deep River resident reported a junk vehicle. 4:09 p.m. A Deep River resident reported a junk vehicle. 6:06 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious male and female walking along SR 4. Two deputies made contact with the pair who were on their way home after a walk to Gragg's for ice cream with their eight week old daughter. 6:50 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that someone had broken into her chicken coop and stolen eggs. 9:12 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa juvenile. Life Flight transported the youth to a hospital. 9:25 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Cathlamet resident. A deputy made contact with the resident.

June 11 — 11:43 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a few items had been stolen from his property. 12:43 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a group of skateboarders on his private road after informing the skateboarders that they were not allowed to be there. 12:50 p.m. A Skamokawa resident complained about a junk boat that had been in his yard for some time. He was advised that the Sheriff’s Department does not handle boats. 4:59 p.m. A caller reported that a transformer was sparking in the Rosburg area. 6:31 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident complained that a neighbor’s cows were in his yard. The owner was notified. 7:23 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that someone had mutilated her cat. 7:36 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a violation of a protection order.

June 12 — 6:46 a.m. A caller reported a deceased bald eagle on the side of a Puget Island roadway. 11:14 a.m. A caller reported that people were camping in a no camping area in the Julia Butler Hansen Refuge. 2:12 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading west on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 2:15 p.m. A caller, concerned about safety, reported two juveniles playing by the river. A deputy made contact with the two. 2:41 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an elderly Grays River resident who had fallen. 3:56 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a junk vehicle. 4:01 p.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about a neighbor who would not move his vehicle. 4:04 p.m. Deputies visited a Puget Island address to take an individual with a warrant into custody. 8:53 p.m. A caller was concerned after finding three containers containing pesticide in the Grays River. 8:55 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a big fire that smelled of chemicals.

June 13 — 3:00 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in a Puget Island church parking lot. 4:36 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Skamokawa resident who had suffered a stroke. 12:27 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a power outage in Grays River due to an antenna resting on power lines. The PUD was notified. 1:21 p.m. A backpack was found. 5 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded to the report of a power outage in Deep River. The PUD was notified. 5:35 p.m. A caller reported that a stump was smoldering in a Cathlamet park. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded. 6:42 p.m. A youth was reported missing from the Rosedale area and was believed to have run away. He was located the next day around noon and returned to his family. 10:16 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading east on SR 4 in the Rosedale area.

June 14 — 9:16 a.m. A Cathlamet renter was concerned that someone had been entering her residence. A deputy advised the landlord to change the locks. 10:34 a.m. A caller reported that a suspicious vehicle had been parked at a Cathlamet business for a couple days. A responsible party was notified and agreed to move the vehicle. 1:56 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an elderly Rosedale resident. 6:28 p.m. A Puget Island resident called because he was feeling overwhelmed and depressed. A representative from mental health made contact and an appointment was set up for the individual for the next day. 8:01 p.m. A Cathlamet resident was concerned that a neighbor was selling marijuana out of her home because of traffic in and out of the house.

June 15 — 8:18 p.m. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a multiple vehicle accident on SR 4 in the Flandersville area. 12:00 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 12:07 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when a Grays River resident reported that water was leaking from his meter. 2:42 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire in the Little Cape Horn area. 6:40 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that a pitbull was loose and making his family nervous.
