Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
June 1 — 9:44 a.m. A caller reported that a driver took off after hitting a car that had been parked at a Rosedale business. 11:34 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle swerving all over the roadway on SR 4 near Nassa Point. A deputy responded and two were taken into custody. 5:43 p.m. A caller reported a disabled vehicle on SR 4 near the top of KM.
June 2 — 7:30 a.m. A baby was delivered at County Line Park; an ambulance from Cowlitz County responded. 11:36 a.m. A caller reported that there was a tree on fire from a downed power line near Flandersville. The District 4 Fire Department responded, and the PUD was notified. 5:59 p.m. A caller reported a tree blocking both lanes on SR 4 in the Grays River area. 9:05 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained about the smell coming from her neighbor’s property after he spread biosolids on his land. The caller was advised to contact the health department.
June 3 — 12:22 a.m. A caller reported a power outage in the Elochoman Valley. The District 4 Fire Department responded to more reports of sparking caused by a tree in a power line. The PUD was notified and traffic was stopped in the area until the problem was resolved. 7:37 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that a burglary had taken place during the night while they were sleeping. 9:16 a.m. An assault was reported on a school bus in Cathlamet. 10:59 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a missing cat. 12:27 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported fraudulent activity. 2:31 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at the Cathlamet Library. One person was taken into custody. 2:40 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a theft. 5:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having trouble breathing. 8:30 p.m. Ongoing bullying and an assault were reported at a Cathlamet school.
June 4 — 3:01 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded when a Cathlamet resident who had previously had a severe allergic reaction was stung by a bee. 6:51 a.m. A caller reported that a downed tree was partially blocking a Puget Island roadway. The county road department was notified. 11:13 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that his phone was infected by a virus. 4:42 p.m. A Deep River resident reported a burglary. 6:33 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Puget Island resident who had fallen and injured his head. 9:08 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale residence. A responsible party was contacted and en route.
June 5 — 2:48 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Beaver Creek resident who had stomach pain. 5:48 p.m. A Cathlamet resident complained that a neighbor had damaged some of her property. 7:10 p.m. A caller reported a tree down on SR 4 in the Rosburg area.
June 6 — 9:42 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual in the Skamokawa area after she had been stung by a bee. 12:52 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident found her missing dog on Craigslist and passed on information about the people who were trying to sell her dog. 2:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was bleeding from her tonsils. 3:09 p.m. A caller reported an intoxicated driver on an Elochoman Valley road. 3:25 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had fallen. 3:28 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Rosedale business after a caller reported that someone had walked in with a possible broken arm. 3:47 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in a Cathlamet park. 5:27 p.m. A property owner in Skamokawa lodged a complaint about a civil dispute after asking an individual to remove cattle from his land. A member of the sheriff’s department agreed to go out to the property and speak to the individual. 5:40 p.m. A caller reported an open electrical panel at the ferry landing. 8:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was short of breath and had a rapid heart rate. 9:56 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had spun out on a Cathlamet street.
June 7 — 6:53 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident woke up to find a horse in her yard. 8:25 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that cattle were in a neighbor’s yard. A responsible party was contacted. 2:27 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who had pain in his shoulder and left arm. 3:18 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop on SR 4 near the school access road in Cathlamet. 3:38 p.m. A caller reported a possible intoxicated driver heading eastbound on SR 4 just east of Rosedale. 6:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a woman who had lost consciousness at a Skamokawa restaurant. 7:09 p.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded to the report of a burning stump on Puget Island at the site of an earlier controlled practice burn.
