Comets medal at state meet
Members of the Naselle Comet Track and Field Squad had a good trip to the state Class 1B Track and Field meet at Cheney last week and brought home six medals.
To medal, athletes must place eighth or higher in an event.
Ellie Chapman placed fifth in the 100m hurdles, 17.7, sixth in the 300m hurdles, 51.91, and third in the high jump, 4'10", to claim three medals.
Savannah Zimmerman placed eighth in the pole vault, 7'6".
Matt Carter placed third in the high jump at 6', and Connor See placed sixth in the triple jump, 39'11.5."
Also competing for the Comets were:
The 4x200m relay team of Karinda Cooper, Micah Cenci, Zimmerman and Angel Evans placed 16th in the preliminaries in 2:09.28.
The 4x400m relay team of Cooper, Cenci, Zimmerman and Evans placed 11th in the preliminaries in 5:13.77.
Cooper placed 15th in the shot put at 26'9.75".
The 4x100m relay team of Tony Lopez, See, Carter and Kyler Wolf placed 10th in the preliminaries at 47.99.
Cody Kirkman placed 13th in the shot put at 36'9.25".
Allyn Bauer placed 15th in the discus at 98'6".
Wulf placed 10th in the triple jump at 38'0.25".
In the long jump, See placed 14th at 18'1.5", and Wulf was 15th at 18'1".
