Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
May 18 — 5:14 a.m. A caller reported a power outage in the Elochoman Valley. The PUD was notified. 7:40 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Puget Island resident who had chest pain and respiratory issues. 8:16 a.m. A deputy responded to the report of an eastbound vehicle that was all over the roadway on SR 4 just east of KM. An individual was taken into custody. 12:50 p.m. A caller reported that he had found remains on a Puget Island beach. A deputy investigated and determined that the remains were from a deceased seal. 3:59 p.m. A student reported a theft of personal items at Wahkiakum High School. 9:17 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a possible runaway. The juvenile was later located by a deputy and taken home.
May 19 — 7:12 a.m. A caller reported a deceased bald eagle in the Elochoman Valley. A call was made to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s bald eagle hotline. 10:03 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had hit a building in Rosedale. 12:03 p.m. The Cathamet ambulance and the District 4 Fire Department aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen down some stairs. 1:52 p.m. A caller reported that she had been raped a year earlier by her ex-husband. 3:32 p.m. A Rosedale resident requested a deputy when a verbal argument between two juveniles at the home had escalated to threats of violence. 3:59 p.m. A caller reported a minor traffic accident in a Cathlamet parking lot. 4:36 p.m. A person was taken into custody for violating a domestic violence protection order after a vehicle stop in the Elochoman Valley. 6:10 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that she had no water pressure at home. A representative from the Town of Cathlamet was notified. 7:13 p.m. A caller reported that juveniles as young as eight were speeding up and down a Skamokawa roadway on motorcycles and four wheelers every day before and after school. A deputy investigated and cited an adult for operating an off road vehicle on a county road. 7:18 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident after a possible overdose. 9:07 p.m. A Rosedale business owner reported that a female pedestrian had been stumbling around on their premises and was now making her way west on SR 4.
May 20 — 7:01 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a person had violated a no contact order. 12:08 p.m. A caller reported a disabled, unoccupied vehicle on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 4:01 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that a juvenile had kicked in a window. 5:12 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly man who had symptoms of a heart attack while on Coffee Pot Island. 6:19 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Rosedale resident who had fallen.
May 21 — No calls to report.
May 22 — 12:35 p.m. A deputy was requested at Wahkiakum High School to handle an issue with a juvenile. 4:21 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when a smoke alarm was activated at a Cathlamet address. 9:50 p.m. A representative from the mental health department requested deputy assistance at a Rosedale address. An individual was taken into custody.
May 23 — 3:08 p.m. Deputies attempted to locate a woman on Puget Island after a call to 911 ended abruptly. 5:48 p.m. A caller reported a possibly intoxicated driver on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 10:52 p.m. A Cathlamet resident asked for assistance in removing an individual who was causing a disturbance from her home.
May 24 — 10:24 a.m. A caller reported an erratic westbound driver on SR 4 near Flandersville. 2:40 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained about a neighboring burn. A deputy investigated and didn’t find a problem. 3:32 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that someone had stolen a bicycle and attempted to take a second one. 3:57 p.m. A Skamokawa resident complained about a low flying helicopter that was making its third pass in the last three hours. A deputy investigated but was unable to locate the aircraft. 4:25 p.m. A Skamokawa resident complained that multiple vehicles had parked in the roadway and obstructed access to and from his driveway. Deputies spoke to the vehicle owners and cleared the roadway.
May 25 — 9:08 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that his car had been stolen. 12:16 p.m. A Rosedale resident found a dog. 4:55 p.m. A caller reported that a flag in Cathlamet was not at half staff for Memorial Day. 5:27 p.m. A field sobriety test was given to a driver during a vehicle stop on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. The driver was taken into custody. 6:07 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a disturbance about custody issues. The caller was advised that it was a civil issue. 7:57 p.m. A caller reported that a confused elderly woman had driven away from a Rosedale business. 8:22 p.m. A caller reported juveniles driving around the high school parking lot with a student on the hood of the car.
