The Wahkiakum Mule Track and Field team traveled to South Bend last Thursday to compete in a Pacific League meet against four other teams from South Bend, North Beach, Wishkah Valley and North River .
The boys took fourth place in team competition with 20 points, and the girls placed second with 61 points.
Nevan Bingham won the 100 meters with a time of 11.77 and placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 24.50. Finishing with a new personal record time of 15:00.00, Kai Yuan Chen took first place in the 3200 meters.
Ethan Cothren placed second in the shot put with a throw of 38-05.00.
Shona Heywood competed in the 200 meters and took third place with a time of 30.30. Cheyenne Barton won the 400 meters with a time of 1:07.40. Aly Kirzy took first place in the 3200 meters with a time of 15:09.07, a new personal record. Shelbie Abbot won both her events, the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles with times of 19.30 and 1:00.97, respectively.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Rory Heywood, S. Heywood, Barton and Gracie Thomas finished second with a time of 2:02.87. Tarah Wisner placed second in the shot put with a new personal record, 29-07.00. She also took fourth place in the discus with a toss of 66-04.
R. Heywood placed first in the high jump, clearing 4-04.00. She also took third in the triple jump with a leap of 26-10.00.
The team traveled to Ilwaco on Tuesday for the Pacific County Invitational. Results were not available at press time.
Next up is the Central 2B Sub District Meet on Friday in Napavine.
