The Wahkiakum Mule track and field team traveled to Napavine last Thursday for a Central 2B meet. The boys team scored eight points and took eighth place out of eight teams. The girls team scored 54 points and placed fourth out of eight teams.
For the boys, Nevan Bingham continued to improve his time in the 100 meters, taking fourth place in 11.76. He also placed fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.93. The 4x400 meter relay team of Bingham, Thong Phan, Kai Yuan Chen and Ethan Cothren took fifth with a time of 4:06.61.
In girls competition, Cheyenne Barton placed second in the 400 meter race with a time of 1:07.6. Aly Kirzy took second in the 3200 with a time of 15:46.00 and Shelbie Abbot placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.47.
The 4x100 relay team of Gracie Thomas, Barton, Grace Peacock and Shona Heywood placed second with a time of 56.7. The 4x200 relay team of Thomas, Barton, S. Heywood and Peacock took second with a time of 2:02.67. The 4x400 relay team of Rory Heywood, Thomas, S. Heywood and Barton finished the race in third place with a time of 4:54.62.
Tarah Wisner took third place in the shot put with a throw of 25-08.5. She also took fifth in the discus with a toss of 63-08.
R. Heywood cleared 4'4" in the high jump and placed third.
The team travels to Kalama on Friday to compete in the Kalama Twilight event.
