Westend news

There will be another fundraiser this Saturday, 2-4 p.m. at the Rosburg Hall and it is hosted by the Rosburg Community Club. The event is the Ralph McGough Scholarship Dessert Social and the proceeds will benefit the scholarship program that is given to a local student each year.

Enjoy the afternoon with delicious desserts provided by the Rosburg Community Club. Donations will be accepted instead of a specific charge. Remember, one of our local kids will reap the benefits of us eating lots and lots of goodies.

The Free Friday Night movie this week: The saga continues in this sequel that finds Katniss Everdeen facing a decision that could sway the fate of a nation. In the wake of the Quarter Quell, the competition has been changed forever, and Katniss ends up in District 13. Her courage having inspired a nation, the brave young heroine heeds the advice of her friends, and sets out to save Peeta. Meanwhile, Katniss's fragile alliance with President Snow could lead to disaster. Rated PG-13, the show starts at 7 p.m. on our big screen with surround sound.

Concessions are also available with candy, popcorn and pop, with proceeds ensuring that the free Friday night movies will continue. Hope to see you there. Some great movies are planned for the next few weeks. Watch for a synopsis in my column, as we can’t give you the name of the movie, the stars names or the production company, in violation of our license. If you look on the board just inside the Grays River Valley Library you can see what is playing. You can also call 465-2310 and the librarian can tell you what is playing.
