Mule athletes compete in home track meet

Adna, Onalaska and Firm Foundation Christian School traveled to Cathlamet last Thursday for Wahkiakum High School's only home track meet of the season.

Nevan Bingham won the 100 meter race, finishing with a new personal record of 11.78. He took third in the 300m with a time of 24.43 and third in the long jump with a distance of 16-02.50.

Thong Phan took sixth place in the 400m with a time of 1:10.13. The 4x400 team of Kyle Stump, Ethan Cothren, Bingham and Phan took fifth with a time of 4:49.34.

Cothren took second place in the shot put with a distance of 36-06.00.

In girls competition, Shelbie Abbot finished second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 19.53 and claimed third place in the 300m hurdles with a time of 1:02.45. She also took fourth in the 1600m with a time of 7:23.93.

Aly Kirzy placed second in the 3200m with a time of 15:58.95.

The 4x100 relay team of Rory Heywood, Shona Heywood, Cheyenne Barton and Gracie Thomas took first place with a time of 57.71. Sandy Gros, Bruna Rocha, Mica Kincade and Aly Kirzy finished third with a time of 1:06.67.

The 4x200 relay team of Thomas, Rory Heywood, Shona Heywood, and Barton claimed first place with a time of 2:04.61, followed by Kirzy, Gros, Rocha and Kincade who took second with a time of 2:28.53.

The 4x400 relay team of Barton, Shona Heywood, Abbot and Thomas placed second with a time of 5:07.24.

Tarah Wisner took first place in the shot put with a distance of 27-11.00. Mica Kincade took fifth place with a throw of 21-01.50. Wisner took third place in the discus with a toss of 65-10.

Rory Heywood took second place in the triple jump with a distance of 27-07.50. She also placed second in the high jump, clearing 4-08. Kirzy took third in the high jump, clearing 3-11.

Wahkiakum High School students are off for spring break; the track and field team will return to competition on April 16 in Napavine.
