Sheriff's Report, April 9, 2015

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

March 30 — 10:42 a.m. Child Protective Services referred the sheriff’s department to a case of child abuse on Puget Island. 1:48 p.m. The sheriff’s department received a referral from Adult Protective Services about abuse on Puget Island. 1:50 p.m. The sheriff’s department received a referral after a Puget Island resident contacted Adult Protective Services to report that a grandchild had been stealing jewelry and pain medications. 6:04 p.m. A caller reported that a driver had made an improper lane change on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 8:09 p.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle in the Skamokawa area. 8:21 p.m. A juvenile with a warrant was taken into custody after a caller reported his location.

March 31 — 12:03 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an elderly Grays River resident who was having a diabetic seizure. 9:26 a.m. A caller reported a dog with back injuries at a Cathlamet address. The owner was located and he was en route to the veterinarian with the dog. 10:12 a.m. An alarm was activated at an Elochoman Valley address. It was cancelled after it was determined to be a false alarm. 1:47 p.m. A local resident became concerned after a child expressed fear about returning home. 3:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had chest pain and was short of breath. 3:50 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that someone had stolen his tools.

April 1 — 4:45 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a suspicious male on a bicycle. 8:22 a.m. A car was broken into at a Skamokawa residence and an item was stolen. 10:01 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the clinic in Cathlamet to transport a patient to the hospital. The patient was bleeding profusely after cutting himself with a saw. 12:58 p.m. The sheriff’s department’s K9 unit was requested to assist in a search at a school in Naselle. 2:05 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle that had been parked in a Cathlamet school’s parking lot for two weeks. 5:26 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a methamphetamine user had walked past his home and took off running when he realized that he had been seen. 8:15 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that someone had parked a vehicle on his property. The resident later called to report that the car’s owner had called him to tell him that the brakes had gone out. The resident said the vehicle could stay.

April 2 — 9:32 a.m. The Grays River Fire Department and the Grays River ambulance responded to a logging accident in Naselle. Three people were injured. 4:50 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at a Rosedale residence. 5:25 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported problems with a juvenile.

April 3 — 8:28 a.m. A suspicious package was found on a bench in front of the courthouse in Cathlamet. 1:43 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle was bumped by another vehicle in a Cathlamet parking lot. 5:57 p.m. A caller complained about a vehicle without a license plate heading westbound on SR 4 west of County Line Park.

April 4 — 12:32 p.m. A caller complained about a truck and boat trailer that was taking up a lot of parking space in front of a Cathlamet business and had been there overnight. 2:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 5:13 p.m. A Cathlamet resident sought advice about parental rights. 5:42 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had neck pain and was not feeling well. 7:57 p.m. A caller reported an abandoned vehicle in the Elochoman Valley.

April 5 — 11:19 a.m. A Rosedale resident complained that a neighbor’s cows had gotten loose and were on his property. The neighbor was contacted. 11:55 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with a bad headache. LifeFlight was activated. 3:16 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a bicyclist had threatened to spray her and her dog with mace after the dog barked at him.

April 6 — 2:46 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle with its hazard lights on near Flandersville. Washington State Patrol made contact and was informed that help was on the way.
