Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Four Wahkiakum Mule wrestlers headed to the Tacoma Dome last weekend to participate in the 27th Annual Mat Classic State Wrestling Tournament. Wrestling at 132 pounds was Luke Stacey, at 138 pounds was Alex Johnson, at 160 pounds was Kody Vik and wrestling at 182 pounds was Trystan Mendez.
On the first day of wrestling competitors have to win at least one match to come back and wrestle on day two. Three of our wrestlers were able to do just that, with only Kody Vik failing to advance to the next round.
On day two, each wrestler faced a tough opponent and all failed to win to advance to the medal rounds. It was a tough way to end the season, but each wrestler did extremely well just to make it to the state tournament.
Sadly, every one of the wrestlers is a senior, meaning this is the last time they will wrestle in their high school career. It's been a great season and the Mules wish to thank all the fans that came out to see them wrestle their hearts out over the season. Special thanks to the coaching staff for making this final trip to state a memorable one.
