Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
January 26 — 9:03 a.m. A vehicle on Puget Island was vandalized with shaving cream, multi-colored feathers and glitter. 10:21 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with shortness of breath to the hospital. 12:31 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a phone scam. 2:30 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a suspicious vehicle. 3:44 p.m. An eastbound driver was involved in a hit and run with a disabled vehicle on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 4:12 p.m. A caller requested that an unknown vehicle be removed from the Fire District 4 parking lot where it had been parked all day. 7:40 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Rosburg resident who had hit his head and was having a seizure. 8:53 p.m. A person was taken into custody after a vehicle stop just west of County Line Park.
January 27 — 7:58 p.m. A motorist was reported to be headed westbound on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area at speeds in excess of 70 mph. 10:46 p.m. A Westend resident reported that an individual who had been physically abusive in the past had threatened suicide. The caller was advised.
January 28 — 12:11 a.m. A caller reported a stolen vehicle. 2:29 p.m. A individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop near County Line Park. 5:40 p.m. A power outage was reported in the Rosedale area; the PUD was notified.
January 29 — 10:40 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a ransomware virus on his computer. 11:30 a.m. A caller reported a slow moving vehicle heading westbound on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 11:23 p.m. A caller reported that former residents who had been kicked out of a Cathlamet home a month earlier were seen moving things out of the house. One was taken into custody on a warrant from Cowlitz County. 11:59 p.m. Two teens dressed in black were seen acting suspiciously in downtown Cathlamet.
January 30 — 9:06 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident with low blood pressure. 1:17 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that he was attempting to regain property that had been purchased from him with a fraudulent check. He was advised that it was a civil matter. 8:31 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that there had been a burglary at her neighbor’s home in the last few minutes.
January 31 — 8:09 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who was having difficulty breathing. 10:53 a.m. An advocate from the mental health department was notified when a Rosedale resident was reported to be depressed and angry. 12:39 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a search warrant was authorized in Skamokawa. 1:50 p.m. A caller reported hearing automatic weapons being fired in the Elochoman Valley. 2:30 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle being driven erratically on a Cathlamet street. 2:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Skamokawa resident with chest pain and trouble breathing; LifeFlight was activated. 6:34 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on Puget Island. 11:35 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle on his property in Cathlamet.
February 1 — 5:22 a.m. The Puget Island Fire Department, the Cathlamet ambulance and the PUD responded to the report of a structure fire on Puget Island. Because of the location of the fire next to the ferry landing, the fire chief ordered that ferry service be halted for two hours. 10:44 a.m. A caller reported that she had activated an alarm when she entered a public building in Cathlamet. 6:07 p.m. An individual with special needs was reported missing; he was located. 7:50 p.m. The Puget Island Fire Department returned to the site of an early morning fire after more smoke and flames were seen.
