Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
January 5 — 2:07 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle heading eastbound on SR 4 was all over the road. 2:27 p.m. Deputies were involved in the pursuit of two individuals who were on foot. The two were eventually caught and taken into custody.
January 6 — 9:23 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. A burglar alarm was twice activated at a Puget Island residence. The owner was contacted. 11:34 a.m. A motorcyclist reported a missing license plate. 12:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Rosedale home to aid a resident with high blood pressure. 12:11 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a Cathlamet home when a smoke alarm was activated. It was a false alarm. 1:31 p.m. A motion alarm was activated at a Puget Island home. 1:34 p.m. A caller reported finding a deceased goat tied to a tree by its horns. 4:01 p.m. A caller was concerned after seeing a woman who looked like she intended to climb the Puget Island bridge. 4:39 p.m. A caller reported hitting a deer on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. A deputy dispatched the animal. 10:16 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded to the report of a fire in Rosburg. It was a false alarm.
January 7 — 9:25 a.m. A caller reported that someone had broken into a home in the Elochoman Valley. 11:56 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that his neighbor’s horses were in his field. 1:39 p.m. A license plate was found near the school access road in Cathlamet. 2:44 p.m. A man reported that he was being harassed by his landlord. 9:28 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a smoke alarm that was activated at a Cathlamet address. It was a false alarm.
January 8 — 8:08 a.m. A dead coyote was found on the side of the road in the Elochoman Valley area. 8:10 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Grays River resident with a diabetic issue. 9:53 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported two missing dogs. 2:51 p.m. A caller who was watching a home in Skamokawa for friends reported that someone had tried to break in by kicking in the back door. 4:44 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a juvenile had run away. 7:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island resident who had collapsed. 7:31 p.m. A driver hit an elk in the Grays River area.
January 9 — 5:16 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Alger Creek resident who may have suffered a heart attack. 1:51 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported receiving a fraudulent phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS and threatening to sue. 7:23 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department and deputies responded when a truck hit a power line pole on Puget Island. Two were taken into custody. The PUD responded and dealt with the power outage.
January 10 — 7:15 p.m. A dead deer was found in the westbound lane of SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 8:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an ailing Grays River resident. 9:49 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire in Grays River. It turned out to be a controlled burn. 4:02 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a trespasser.
January 11 — 11:20 a.m. A Rosedale resident complained that a neighbor’s dog was chasing some chickens. 1:00 p.m. A Puget Island resident was concerned about duck hunters. 3:13 p.m. A caller reported a stripped and abandoned vehicle in the Rosedale area. 3:36 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported hearing shots fired, and was concerned that the shots were from hunters on Potts Island and coming in the direction of his home. The information was passed on to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
