Port District 1 discusses varied business

At December’s Port District 1 meeting last Thursday, Commissioner Bob Kizziar asked his colleagues to support his efforts to begin advertising for the Wooden Boat Show next summer.

“I think the boat show fits into our mission statement,” Kizziar said. “It would be nice to grow the boat show. Last time the chamber paid for almost all of the advertising, it would be good if some of the advertising came from us.”

The commissioners agreed and set aside $500 for advertising.

Plans to relocate the RV dump are in place, but the port is still waiting for bids from contractors.

“I guess we’re not in that big of a hurry,” Commissioner Gary Quigley said. The commissioners batted around some ideas regarding the RV parking area, including the addition of another row of parking and the possibility of putting in sewer hookups, but nothing was decided.

More safety ladders have arrived and await installation and general maintenance is being done around the port.
