David “Roy” Campsall, 91, a former Cathlamet resident, died in Duncan, British Columbia on Vancouver Island on November 23, 2014. Roy was born in Edmonton, Alberta on September 22, 1923. As a child his family moved to Vancouver, B.C. He met Delice in Vancouver and they married in 1953. He moved his young family to Cathlamet in 1964 where he worked for Crown Zellerbach until 1977 when he was transferred to the Seaside operation. In 1972 Delice preceded him in death. In 1994 he returned to Canada to be near his family.
Roy was a veteran of the Canadian Army and a life member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge and a member of the United Church. He was a loving father and grandfather who always strived to do his best for family, friends and church.
Roy leaves behind his children David, Heather (Chip) and Donald Campsall, grandson, Brian Chipperfield and sister Mae Oost. He was preceded by three brothers.
A celebration of Roy’s life will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday July 17, 2015 at Greenwood Cemetery in Cathlamet. He and Delice will be placed together on that day.
