Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Samantha Wright, a Bank of the Pacific employee, will give a presentation on the perils of telephone and online scams at the Community Senior Center, 100 Main St., Cathlamet, on December 11 at 10 a.m.
Wright will catalog the numerous methods that criminals use to try and separate people from their money with the technology available to them, including the telephone, the computer, ATMs and gas pumps, and US mail. She will also educate attendees on how to protect themselves from this kind of activity.
With a degree in criminal justice from Eastern Washington University, and experience working in risk management at the bank, Wright is especially knowledgeable about internet safety and financial scams.
Wright has been working for the Bank of the Pacific for three years and will soon transfer to a branch in Long Beach where she will focus on risk management.
