Sheriff's Report, November 27, 2014

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 17 — 2:56 p.m. A possible DUI was reported on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 3:36 p.m. A Puget Island resident received a fraudulent phone call; the caller stated that a granddaughter was in trouble and needed money.

November 18 — 1:32 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported malicious mischief and theft. 4:53 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that three cows had gotten out of their pasture and were on the roadway. 4:55 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported an internet scam. 5:14 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported getting threatening texts. 6:23 p.m. A caller reported that a stop sign had disappeared from a Puget Island road. 9:42 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island resident when a medical alarm was activated at her home; the alarm was set off accidentally.

November 19 — 6:11 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Deep River resident who was having breathing problems and complained of numbness in her face. 1:01 p.m. A caller reported a dead deer on Puget Island. The Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 1:13 p.m. A parent called to report that her adult daughter was depressed and had been missing for three days. She later asked for a welfare check on her daughter in Longview and the LPD was advised. 2:04 p.m. A caller reported a dangerous dog that was tied up in Cathlamet; an investigating officer declared the complaint unfounded. 2:14 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported being harassed by what may have been a phone scam. 2:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who was ill and in severe pain. 4:02 p.m. A caller reported a possible DUI heading westbound on SR 4 near County Line Park. 5:21 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who was having a seizure. 11:46 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a suspicious truck driving slow and pulling in and out of driveways; a deputy was unable to locate the vehicle, but the caller was able to contact the driver who said he was looking for an address that had been obtained online.

November 20 — 2:09 p.m. A caller reported that a boat had run aground near Nassa Point. 3:35 p.m. A caller reported four cows on the roadway in the Skamokawa area. 5:39. A caller reported that the lights were out in the Puget Island Bonneville Power Administration tower and that a helicopter had just flown by and narrowly missed it; BPA was notified. 9:15 p.m. A caller reported that a truck had not been parked far enough off the road and remained partially in the roadway in Cathlamet.

November 21 — 7:01 a.m. A welfare check was requested on an Elochoman Valley resident; the resident was okay. 12:48 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported being threatened over the phone by her estranged husband. 1:22 p.m. A caller reported that two wallets had been found in the parking lot of a Rosedale business in the last week. 2:47 p.m. Deputies and a mental health representative responded when a Cathlamet resident threatened suicide. 3:23 p.m. A Skamokawa parent called when she was unable to locate a juvenile who had run away; she called later to report that he had been found. 4:26 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale residence; a deputy investigated and discovered that the door had been opened by the wind. 5:37 p.m. A caller reported that an elderly homeless woman was staying in the yurts at the marina for the weekend. 7:34 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman who was suffering from cellulitis. 8:44 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle heading eastbound on SR 4 in the Rosedale area hadn’t turned on it’s headlights.

November 22 — 12:22 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Grays River resident with a bad cut on his hand. 2:33 p.m. An elderly woman was seen attempting to hitchhike on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 7:54 p.m. A Rosedale business reported that an unauthorized purchase had been made with a credit card. 9:09 p.m. A Cathlamet resident wanted to know if it was legal to shoot her neighbor’s dogs for taking stuff off of her porch.

November 23 — 7:33 a.m. An Algier Creek resident asked about options after his gate was damaged. 4:12 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when a fire alarm was activated at a Cathlamet address; it was a false alarm. 5:51 p.m. Deputies responded to the report of a single vehicle accident on SR 4 just east of KM. The Cathlamet ambulance responded at 6:18 p.m., even though no injuries were reported. 6:12 p.m. A burglar alarm was activated at a Puget Island residence; a responsible party was contacted and he said everything was okay.
