Sheriff's Report, November 20, 2014

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 10 — 8:12 a.m. A power outage was reported in the Rosburg area; the PUD was notified. 3:32 p.m. A Puget Island resident received a fraudulent phone call from someone claiming to be from the Windows tech department. 4:01 p.m. A Greenwood resident reported hearing a drone operating at night for the last two weeks; deputies spoke with a resident known to have five drones. 4:32 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when an alarm was activated at a Cathlamet residence; it was a false alarm. 5:25 p.m. A caller reported hitting a deer on SR 4 in the Rosedale area; a deputy moved the deceased deer off of the roadway.

November 11 — 12:01 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded when a Cathlamet resident reported that someone had gone into the bathroom three hours earlier and had not come out; investigation revealed that the individual had fallen asleep. 12:15 a.m. A caller reported that a dispute was escalating at a Cathlamet home. 9:18 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who had severe abdominal pain. 10:13 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a patient from the clinic to palliative care. 11:19 a.m. A Rosedale resident called 911 repeatedly, asking to speak to her roofer; a caregiver arrived at her home a little later. 12:38 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that two cows were loose; a message was left with the owner. 12:39 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported a telephone scam. 1:46 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a tree on a power line; the PUD was notified. 10:17 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported seeing a man, woman, and child loading a boat trailer and leaving on a bicycle built for two; the resident believed they were stealing from his shed. A deputy investigated and did a sweep of the area. Nothing appeared to be missing from the shed, and the deputy could not locate the three people.

November 12 — 3:04 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that there were kids at her house and that they would not leave; dispatch asked to speak to the kids but there was no response. A caregiver was en route. 7:08 a.m. A caller reported a post in the middle of a Cathlamet roadway; it was removed before a deputy arrived. 11:16 a.m. A Cathlamet resident found a window pried open; a deputy investigated. 11:29 a.m. A tree was blocking a roadway in Rosburg; the Wahkiakum County Road Department responded. 2:40 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who was ill. 2:52 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver eastbound on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 9:01 p.m. A person was taken into custody on a warrant.

November 13 — 12:00 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that a man wielding a hammer had driven onto his property and threatened to kill his dog and commit arson. 2:45 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a phone scam.

November 14 — 9:17 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale address; the alarm company canceled the alarm. 9:23 a.m. Three people were involved in a domestic disturbance in Cathlamet. 9:41 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a confused, elderly resident in Cathlamet. 11:32 a.m. A caller reported seeing two dogs running free in Cathlamet every day; the owner was contacted and advised of leash laws. 4:02 p.m. A deputy and the Puget Island Fire Department responded to the report of an illegal barrel burn on Puget Island. 5:30 p.m. A deputy and the District 4 Fire Department responded to a two vehicle collision on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area; no injuries were reported.

November 15 — 7:37 a.m. A caller reported a rock the size of a basketball in the eastbound lane of SR 4 near Flandersville. 10:55 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that her estranged husband had been harassing her and had threatened to come to her home. 12:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley resident who was having a possible diabetic reaction. 2:30 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale business; the alarm company cancelled the alarm. 4:15 p.m. A juvenile was seen prowling around the funeral home in Cathlamet. 6:20 p.m. A Rosedale resident was concerned about smoke coming from her pellet stove; District 4 Fire Department responded. 7:57 p.m. A house sitter at a Puget Island residence found a door open when she came home and requested a deputy to do a walk through. 9:28 p.m. A Cathlamet resident thought she heard someone knocking on her window and when she investigated, her neighbor told her that another neighbor had set off fireworks. She also found glass in the roadway. 9:56 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver in all lanes of traffic, heading westbound just east of County Line Park. 10:39 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked near her home at Nassa Point. 11:58 p.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about a neighbor’s noise.

November 16 — 4:10 a.m. Two horses were seen running down a Skamokawa road; one potential owner was contacted, they did not belong to her. The owners were located, and they said they would bring in their horses. 10:05 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Deep River residence; a family member turned off the alarm. 11:05 a.m. A caller reported two speeding vehicles heading west on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 2:29 p.m. A Deep River resident reported a trespasser. 5:04 p.m. A caller reported hearing shots in the vicinity of the cemetery in the Elochoman Valley.

November 17 — 5:24 a.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded to the report of a possible forest fire in the Rosburg area. No fire was found. 7:18 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that her car had been vandalized.
