Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
November 3 — 9:34 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that a neighbor’s cows were in his yard. 3:17 p.m. A parent reported that his child was being harassed by another student at the middle school in Cathlamet. 5:28 p.m. A suspicious vehicle was parked at an uninhabited residence.
November 4 — 7:06 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island resident who had fainted. 1:09 p.m. A man was seen sitting in the middle of SR 4 near Skamokawa; he had a .314 blood alcohol reading when given a breathalyzer test. 2:59 p.m. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department, the Cathlamet Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to rescue a hunter who had gotten stranded in the Elochoman Valley. 4:33 p.m. A door was found open at a local church; investigation revealed that there was a work party at the time. 8:15 p.m. Two men were seen trying to flag down traffic after their truck broke down on SR 4 near Skamokawa. 9:08 p.m. Hunters reported a “pungent odor” at a particular spot in the Grays River area; deputies planned to return to the site for further investigation. 10:44 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on his ex-wife and children. The caller requested a urine analysis for his ex-wife. He was advised to contact the court regarding the civil issue. The caller said he would start calling the school to check on his children.
November 5 — 9:20 a.m. A caller reported that a dog had attacked his dog on Puget Island. 9:52 a.m. A parent reported that his child was being harassed by another student at the middle school in Cathlamet. 12:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who had hurt her back. 2:10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Skamokawa resident who was ill. 3:45 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported a phone scam. 4:47 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who may have suffered a stroke; LifeFlight was en route. 5:30 p.m. A Deep River resident reported the theft of signs. 6:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Skamokawa resident who had lost consciousness. 10:32 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle and someone shining lights at a Rosedale business; a deputy investigated and the driver said he was tired and had pulled over to rest.
November 6 — 12:25 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver heading east on SR 4 near Flandersville. 1:29 p.m. A caller reported a tree down on SR 4 on KM. 2:23 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a child had been sexually abused. 3:22 p.m. A caller reported that a dog and goat were being neglected at a Puget Island residence. 4:58 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported receiving threats over the phone. 5:49 p.m. After finding a cat, a Rosedale resident wondered if anyone had reported a missing cat. 7:43 p.m. A caller reported a hole in the road on the north end of the Puget Island bridge; WSDOT was notified.
November 7 — 10:16 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who had back pain. 12:12 p.m. A caller reported a deceased "wolf" in the Elochoman Valley; the state Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 2:33 p.m. A caller, concerned that there might be a hunter in distress, reported that a vehicle had been sitting alongside a Grays River road for four days. 5:13 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle being driven erratically on SR 4 just east of County Line Park. 5:57 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported a phone scam. 7:08 p.m. A caller reported hearing shots and seeing flares in the Elochoman Valley; the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife responded.
November 8 — 12:04 a.m. A caller reported a drunk driver had pulled into County Line Park and was trying to hide behind the bathrooms; the state patrol responded. 8:36 a.m. A caller reported a deer had gotten wire wrapped in his antlers; the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 10:46 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale residence; the owner was contacted and he said he would have the alarm company reset the alarm. 11:42 a.m. A caller reported knocking on a Rosedale door and being met by the resident, who smelled of alcohol and marijuana and had his hand resting on his holstered gun. 12:55 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and District 4 Fire Department responded to aid a Rosedale resident who had chest pain; LifeFlight was activated. 9:39 p.m. A caller reported that her ex-husband was drunk and letting their child drive him around despite only having a learner’s permit. 11:36 p.m. Deputies, the Grays River ambulance, and the Grays River Fire Department responded to the report of a car in a ditch near the western county line; they were unable to locate the vehicle.
November 9 — 8:15 a.m. A caller from the east end of the county reported a disoriented man in his driveway; the individual was given a verbal warning for trespass. 11:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island resident who was having trouble breathing. 1:49 p.m. A mental health professional requested a deputy standby while he made contact with a Grays River resident who was deteriorating after going off his medications.
