Kevin M. Murphy

Kevin Michael Murphy, 65 of Puget Island, passed away on Sunday November 9, 2014 at home. Kevin was born on March 5, 1949 to Michael J. and Luella (Koth) Murphy in Seattle. He graduated from Mountlake Terrrace High School and attended Lewis and Clark College before moving to Bellingham where he graduated from WWU in 1971.

On August 28, 1971 he married Cathy Johannes and in 1972 they moved to Cathlamet. He graduated from the LCC Nursing Program in 1976 and worked as an RN at St. John Medical Center for 20 years. In 1980 he and Cathy moved to Puget Island where he enjoyed gardening and life on the Island. For 10 years he enjoyed work for the Educational Services District with special needs kids. After retirement he and Cathy enjoyed some wonderful trips together.

Kevin is survived by Cathy at home, his Mother; Luella Murphy of Edmonds,Wash .; a sister, Michelle Murphy of Kenmore, Wash .; two grandsons, Jon Murphy of Virginia and Jayden Murphy of Georgia; mother-in-law, Dorthy Johannes of Mountlake Terrace, Wash .; sister-in-law, Patty Weese of Buford, Georgia.

At Kevin’s request no service will be held. In his memory donations may be made to the Wahkiakum Food Bank GAP (program for children ) C/O Bank of the Pacific, P.O. Box 337, Cathlamet, WA 98612. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
