Couple endorses Howie for sheriff

To The Eagle:

We first met Mark Howie shortly after we bought our home. Mark and his wife, Deb, were on a leisurely drive in the country and pulled into our driveway to introduce themselves, welcome us to Cathlamet, and to thank us for putting so much effort into transforming our home. He mentioned how much he loves Wahkiakum county and that he loves seeing people take pride in where they live.

Mark mentioned that he worked for the Sheriff’s office, and asked if we had any problems or concerns. We told him that it was a little scary to walk along Elochoman Valley Road when people drive so fast and that although we didn’t want people to get in trouble, we would like to be able to walk safely here.

Within days, a speed meter was placed in front of our house that shows people what speed they are driving. It’s an easy road to speed on without realizing it, and we appreciated Mark’s attempts to make people aware of their speed without issuing tickets or upsetting anyone.

We love that Mark is active in the community and we see how much he cares, personally, about the people that live here. Mark’s love of Wahkiakum county and his dedication to its citizens makes us confident in supporting him for Sheriff. We hope you will join us in voting to retain Mark Howie for Sheriff.

Respectfully,

Terry & Nancy Cannon, Cathlamet
