Sheriff's Report

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

October 6 — 11:32 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that an unknown, suspicious car had left the neighborhood after driving past the house several times. 12:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a patient with low blood pressure from the clinic to the hospital. 3:03 p.m. A Deep River resident reported intimidation. 4:18 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported an attempted scam. 5:15 p.m. The parent of a juvenile reported a violation of a protection order when a third party was used to make contact for the respondent at the high school. The principal was aware of the situation, and a deputy agreed to make contact with both parties the next day. 5:52 p.m. A caller reported being assaulted by an intoxicated and angry man at a Deep River residence. 6:46 p.m. A girl was seen hitchhiking on SR 4 near County Line Park. 6:59 p.m. A caller complained about cows in a Puget Island roadway; the owner was located and he returned the cows to his enclosure. 7:12 p.m. A caller reported that a Hummer had been idling at the county shops. 8:20 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported a trespasser who had been told to leave and would not do so.

October 7 — 9:20 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transferred a patient with liver failure from the clinic to the hospital. 12:34 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a neighbor’s dog had gotten into her trash and scattered it all over her yard. 2:05 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that his boat had been stolen; investigation revealed that it had been taken by the US Marshals’ office. 3:08 p.m. A caller reported that his ex-wife had defrauded the court. 3:59 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Deep River resident who may have broken her arm in a fall. 4:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a patient with breathing issues from the clinic to the hospital. 4:57 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to an attempted suicide in Rosedale.

October 8 — 12:31 a.m. A Puget Island resident requested assistance after locking herself out of her home. 9:48 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Rosedale resident. 11:03 a.m. Children's Protective Services (CPS) requested a welfare check on occupants at a Rosedale address. 9:39 p.m. A violation of a protection order was reported at a Rosedale address when a third party dropped off a note for the order’s respondent.

October 9 — 4:05 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 10:27 a.m. A motorist reported that a deer had been hit on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 10:57 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale home; a deputy checked the doors. 1:12 p.m. A caller reported a theft in Cathlamet. 3:29 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a phone scam involving retirement benefits. 4:29 p.m. Someone dropped off items at the dump and left without paying.

October 10 — 9:49 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who had abdominal pain. 5:38 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a disturbance at his neighbor’s house; a deputy investigated and discovered that it was a dispute between co-workers. 6:42 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that his neighbor’s dog had come into his yard and killed his dog; the neighbor’s dog has been quarantined and the incident is being investigated.

October 11 — 4:56 p.m. Deputies, the Cathlamet Fire Department, the Grays River ambulance and the PUD responded when a man got stuck in a tree that had fallen on a power line in Grays River.

October 12 — 9:03 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported cows on the highway; the owner was contacted. 9:44 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded when a caller located on SR 4 near the school access road in Cathlamet complained of back pain. 2:26 p.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Deep River residence; one person was taken into custody. 3:49 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid an ailing Grays River resident. 4:14 p.m. A caller reported a possible poaching; an elk or deer was found on the side of the road. Its head had been cut off. 6:46 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded when a caller reported seeing smoke in the Rosedale area. 7:56 p.m. A Rosedale resident requested assistance after locking herself out of her vehicle. 8:27 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported seeing a renter smoking meth on her property, an accusation the subject later denied. The renter reported that she had moved out and complained that the landlord owed her money; the deputy advised her that it was a civil matter.

October 13 — 7:30 a.m. Deputies and the District 4 Fire Department responded to the report of a one car rollover on SR 4 near County Line Park. state Fish and Wildlife were also on site and assisted.
