Dog killed in front of owner

A Puget Island man's dog was killed while he was taking it for a walk last Friday.

Roy Simpson had stopped to talk to a neighbor while walking his dog along West Sunny Sands Road near Svensen Park. While they were visiting, Simpson said, the neighbor's dog suddenly came out of the garage and attacked his Yorkshire Terrier, which was on a leash.

"Within five seconds my dog was dead," Simpson said. "He never heard it coming."

Simpson believes the neighbor's dog, which appears to be a Husky/wolf mix, has accosted people and is a dangerous dog. He has reported the incident to the Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office.

On Monday, a sheriff's office spokesperson said the dog has been quarantined, and the incident is being investigated.
