Elna V. Browning

Elna Vivian Browning, of Longview, died September 23, 2014, the day after her 96th birthday.

She was born in Naselle on September 22, 1918 to Henry and Martha Wirkkala. She grew up in the Deep River area along with her 10 siblings.

She started cleaning houses at an early age and later worked at the oyster cannery. She was married twice, the first union producing two children, Dennis and Marilyn. She later married Hubert Browning and lived in Raymond. Elna had a passion for crocheting, crossword puzzles, traveling and fishing.

She is survived by her daughter Marilyn, sister Lorraine Lawrence and brother Arnold, all of Cathlamet; brothers Melvin and Richard of Longview; three granddaughters; 10 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hubert, son Dennis, sisters Auni Magnuson, Signe Ellsworth and Lily Zeller; brothers Willard, Leslie and Lester, and a granddaughter.

Services have been held. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
