PTO president asks for volunteers

To The Eagle:

Volunteers are needed for the J.A. Wendt Elementary School Parent Teachers Organization (PTO). We are hosting our first 2014-2015 school year PTO meeting on Sunday, September 21, at 4 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Multi-purpose room.

We understand that everyone’s time is precious. But this is for the future of our students, school and community. Therefore, we appreciate any time you are able to spare. Volunteers are always needed to help at events, help out at book fair time, even help with field trips from time to time, and many other events that take place throughout the school year.

The number one reason to join the PTO is to benefit our children, the future of our community. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more advantages to being a PTO member. PTO offers the parents the opportunity to make positive changes in the school. Joining the PTO can also be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.

The PTO fundraisers pay for new books for the school library, new playground equipment, and helps out with off campus events (field trips) the GAP food program, Share-A-Sole tennis shoe drive, and so much more.

You do not need to have children in the elementary school to be a part of our organization. You can just be a member of the community to help out. To join or to find out more about our program, you may contact me to help out or to hopefully answer any questions you may have.

At this meeting our first order of business will be voting in of officers, as well as hearing all fundraising suggestions and ideas for this fall, and voting on some other ideas for the upcoming school year.

Please, come and join us. It’s all about the kids. If you have questions please feel free to call me at 360-431-3661 or email me at bjgaines04@yahoo.com.

Home to see you there!

Bobbie J. Gaines, PTO President
