Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Port District 2's historic gillnetter has been moved thanks to Bill Chamberlain and his crew of volunteers. The boat is now sitting on its permanent site at Vista Park and construction of the boat shed has begun. Prestegard Construction's bid for the work was accepted by the Port's Board of Commissioners in July. Prestegard will be building the shed covering and fence due to be completed by September 5.
Naselle Rock donated the rock for the area where the boat will be permanently placed. Donations have come from several businesses and individuals. Donor names will be listed on a permanent plaque at the site. Two grants from the Marine Resource Committee and the Kinsman Foundation will help with costs.
Anyone interested in donating time or funds may contact Janet Bryan at Vista Park (360)795-8605.
