Susan L. "Susie" Cothren

Lifelong local resident Susan Laree Cothren, 55, of Kelso, died July 10, 2014, at the Hospice Care Center in Longview.

She was born March 14, 1959, in Longview, and graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1977.

Susie was a local waitress and bartender for many years. She loved gardening, garage sales, antiques, horses and her favorite companion, her chihuahua “Bruce Wayne.”

Susie married Anthony Steven “Tony” Setera III in Longview in 1975. They had a child together and later divorced. In 1983 she married Melbourne “Mel” Barnes in Cathlamet. They also had a child together and later divorced.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Billie Jo and Gordy Dunn of Longview; two sons, Tony Setera IV and his wife, Michelle, and Christopher “Chris” Barnes of Portland; a brother, Ron Cothren of Cathlamet; a sister, Debbie Olmstead of Longview; a stepbrother, Ron “Chink” Cothren of Cathlamet; her stepmother, Mary Cothren of Cathlamet; two grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenith Cothren in 2006 and a grandson.

A celebration of her life was held July 16 at Cathlamet City Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Account No. 3020722350 at Chase Bank in Longview to assist the family with funeral expenses.

Arrangements were by Cascade Northwest Funeral Chapel at Green Hills Memorial Gardens & Crematory.
