Council adopts 6-year street improvement plan

The Cathlamet Town Council adopted its annual 6-Year Street Improvement Plan during a special meeting last Thursday afternoon.

The state Department of Transportation requires the annual update of the plan. The plan prioritizes projects which can be started if there is funding available for them. The plan showed no secured funding for any of the six projects on the plan.

Listed projects include:

1. 2015, 2nd Street, from Una Street to the Elochoman Slough Marina, rebuilding roadway and improving curbs, sidewalks, drainage and lighting;

2. 2016, Butler Street, rebuilding roadway and improving curbs, sidewalks, drainage and lighting;

3. 2017, Chester and 2nd streets, from SR 4 to Una, rebuilding roadway and improving curbs, sidewalks, drainage and lighting;

4. 2018, Alder and South Second streets, from Columbia to Elm streets, rebuilding roadway and improving curbs, sidewalks, drainage and lighting;

5. 2019, South Third Street, from Maple to Alder streets, rebuilding roadway and improving curbs, sidewalks, drainage and lighting, and

6. 2020, Columbia Street, from Main to Alder, rebuilding roadway and improving curbs, sidewalks, drainage and lighting.

Also on the agenda were discussion on the naming of the Cathlamet Blanche Bradley Public Library and Community Center complex and an update on a computer replacement project.
