Redmen Hall to reopen June 28

Friends of Skamokawa at Redmen Hall are announcing that the building repairs are finished and the building is now sitting on a firm foundation.

Redmen Hall will reopen on June 28 with a grand celebration and their exhibit - "Legacy of the Columbia River Fishery." The exhibit, which won Washington state's David Douglas award for Irene Martin's concept, writing and curatorial skill, was locally produced through a partnership of Friends of Skamokawa and Wahkiakum Marine Resources Committee and will be on display through Sunday, August 10.

Two new panels will be on public view for the first time at Redmen Hall's grand reopening. They update the exhibit on the subjects of "Community Legacy of Pacific Northwest Salmon" and "Legacy of Recovery & Restoration."

From its Skamokawa showing, the exhibit will travel to WSU for display in their Museum of Anthropology this fall.

Gary Emery and Kent Martin will be demonstrating net-mending during the exhibit and they are planning to augment the exhibit with interesting fishery-related artifacts from the local area.

The hall will be open June 28 and 29 from noon to 4 p.m. and will then resume their regular hours of Thursday through Sunday, noon to 4 p.m., through the rest of the year.
