Mules split double header with Toutle Lake

The Wahkiakum Mule baseball team lost two to Morton/White Pass last Thursday in a double header.

Zach Brown pitched the first game, which the team lost 0-3. Hank Ferguson and Mason Mackey each hit a single.

“Gunnar Blix pitched a good game,” Coach Kyle Hurley said regarding game two, which they lost 4-10.

Blix also hit two home runs. He soloed on one and brought two in with the other. Travis Wegdahl’s sacrifice fly brought in another run.

The team traveled to Toutle Lake on Monday and split games.

They lost the first game 4-6. Wegdahl went two for four at bat and hit a double. Mackey hit a single, Joey Moore hit a single and Blix was three for three with a walk, a double and a three run home run.

The Mules won game two 8-5 with Brown on the mound. He pitched a complete game with seven hits and seven strikeouts.

“Defensively, Travis Wegdahl played well,” Hurley said.

Wegdahl went one for four at bat and added two stolen bases. Mackey went one for four as well with a double and Seth Doumit and Moore each had clutch hits in the game. Moore had two singles with two RBIs and Doumit had a single with two RBIs.
