Sheriff's Report, May 8, 2014

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 28 – 9:13 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a domestic disturbance. 10:57 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a domestic disturbance. 12:41 p.m. A resident on the east end of the county reported that someone had been prowling around outside his house in the middle of the night. 5 p.m. A caller requested assistance for a motorized wheelchair that had broken down near the school. 5:03 p.m. A caller reported a large boulder on SR 4 near County Line Park. 6:03 p.m. A caller reported that she had come into possession of a tube of chewing tobacco that contained methamphetamine. 10:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who had fallen.

April 29 – 6:58 a.m. A Grays River resident reported that someone had left roofing nails under a tire and more recently slashed another tire. 11:10 a.m. A caller reported that a crew working in the Elochoman Valley area was creating a traffic hazard by dropping timber on the roadway. The caller also reported that one worker felled a tree onto the homeowner’s fence. This startled her horse, which ran into another fence and injured itself. 12:35 p.m. A caller reported that a log truck had tipped over and was blocking traffic on the west end of the county near the county line. 2:54 p.m. A caller reported that someone had parked their vehicle in the middle of an Elochoman Valley road while they were cutting firewood. 8:22 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Skamokawa residence to assist someone who was unable to move a leg after a recent fall. 9:51 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle was moving well under the speed limit and all over the road on SR 4 in the Rosedale area; deputies located the driver who was very tired. 10:53 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that someone was outside her home and that it had happened before. Investigation revealed that a juvenile was using her WiFI; he was returned to his home.

April 30 – 1:42 a.m. A Puget Island resident requested assistance in removing an intoxicated and belligerent individual from her property. 9:01 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Rosedale resident who was unconscious. 9:50 a.m. A caller complained about a neighbor’s noisy radios. 12:44 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Elochoman Valley residence to aid an elderly man who had possibly suffered a stroke. 1:25 p.m. A caller reported a tree down on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 1:50 p.m. A resident with mental health issues had gone missing and the family requested assistance in locating the individual. 3:51 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Puget Island residence after a medical alarm was activated. 5:10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who was ill. 5:20 p.m. A caller reported that a sailboat had gotten stuck near County Line Park.

May 1 – 12:05 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident. 12:37 p.m. A caller reported that two students were truant. 3:21 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had nearly caused a head on collision on SR 4 near the school access road. 6:03 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that someone had backed into her shop and caused damage. 9:28 p.m. A Grays River resident called to report concerns that someone might be stealing metal from the fish hatchery; upon investigation it was discovered that hatchery employees had been releasing fish.

May 2 – 8:22 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Cathlamet resident with chest pain. 12:32 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet residence to assist an elderly woman with diabetic issues. 2:49 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported seeing a boat mast hit power lines near Birnie Slough; the PUD was notified. 9:20 p.m. A caller reported seeing a man staggering and vomiting repeatedly on Main St. in Cathlamet.

May 3 – 8:59 a.m. A caller reported that there was no water pressure at a Cathlamet address; a town employee investigated. 5:41 p.m. Two intoxicated individuals were at a Cathlamet business; the caller was concerned that they might drive. 7:16 p.m. A caller reported that two intoxicated individuals were causing a disturbance, sitting in the parking lot of a Cathlamet business and making rude gestures to people who were passing.

May 4 – 12:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Cathlamet man. 3:04 p.m. A caller reported that she and her husband had interrupted a burglary at a Skamokawa residence and that her husband was now following the suspect’s vehicle. 4:53 p.m. A caller reported a large rock on the fog line of the westbound lane of SR 4 near Nassa Point. 7:41 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at a Puget Island residence. 7:56 p.m. A caller reported a possible DUI in Cathlamet; deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.
