Citizen thanks drivers

To the Eagle:

I want to thank the three log truck drivers who slowed their rigs to avoid hitting a lost and terrified dog running up and down State Route 4 west of Skamokawa last week. I also thank Stuart and Tom Bosch, my neighbors. Stuart called me late in the evening to inquire whether I was missing a dog and then, in the dark and in heavy rain, attempted to lure the dog to safety.

Tom helped the next day by encouraging the dog (I named him Hiker) to come toward me. After an hour, he finally did and I was able to tether him and walk him to my house (he refused to get in the car). Hiker is a well-cared-for lab or retriever and while he is safe and relaxed now, he really wants to go home to his family!

There were several other drivers who slowed down or stopped and Hiker and I thank them. We hope that the woman driving a white vehicle who deliberately sped up toward Hiker and gave me the finger gets some counseling!

Please, if you know who Hiker's people are, give me a call at 360-795-3025.

Ursula Petralia, Skamokawa
