Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
On a rainy Saturday afternoon last weekend, Port 2 Manager Janet Bryan and Commissioners Kayrene Gilbertsen and Brian O’Conner gathered with friends and supporters at the newly remodeled County Line Park to celebrate the official grand opening.
They greeted visitors, gave tours of the remodeled bathrooms and new shower and introduced the new park hosts, Neenah and Lew Tromley.
“The Tromleys have done so much work to clean up and maintain the grounds,” Bryan said with obvious pride. “They are doing a great job.”
Several campers had already settled in for the weekend, and a large group dressed in their finest arrived from Longview to gather near the water for a little guitar music and a celebratory drink, despite the weather.
“One of our goals,” Gilbertsen said, “is to encourage local businesses to advertise at the park, in hopes of coaxing visitors to shop in Cathlamet.”
Happily, she added, “People are already calling to make reservations.”
