Tall tales contest set for May 28

The Lower Columbia College Forensics Team and Early Words Toastmasters Club #3657 are offering a purse over $1,000 for winners of a Tall Tales & Persuasive Speech Contest on May 28, with final rounds beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Room of the LCC Administration Building.

Three to five minute talks will be judged by the highly exaggerated, improbable nature woven into their theme or plot. Humor, costumes and props may be used to support the speech.

There are two divisions in the contest: Youth aged 14 to 17, and adults 18 and older.

Speeches must be PG-13 in tone and use family-friendly language. Prizes include scholarships, gift certificates at restaurants, cash and Early Words Toastmasters International memberships.

There is no charge for either contestants or audience. For further information, contest rules and registration go to http://www.BeCauseBusiness.com/TallTales or https://www.facebook.com/LongviewAreaToastmasterClubs?fref=ts
