Local citizen asks for sponsors to help

To The Eagle:

My name is Carol Wegdahl and most of you probably know me from my work at Columbia View Care Center and the Cathlamet Fire Department. Last year I was hired by PeaceHealth in Longview as the coordinator of the American Heart Association Training Center. One of the main duties is teaching CPR/AED classes to community members and medical professionals. Almost daily someone tells me a story of how heart disease or stroke has affected them or their loved ones. Some of these stories are sad, but many people tell me stories of loved ones alive today due to the cardiac research and public training of CPR/AED by the AHA.

Did you know that an estimated 83 million U.S. adults suffer from cardiovascular disease? More than 2,200 people die from the disease each day, one death every 30 seconds! To fight this epidemic, I am walking in the 2014 Greater Portland & SW Washington Heart and Stroke Walk on May 17 and raising funds to support the American Heart Association. Since 1979 the AHA has funded over $100 million in critical research here in Washington. I am asking for donations to sponsor my participation for this walk. If you would like to contribute to this cause, please give me a call (360-430-8344) or send a contribution to P.O. Box 502, Cathlamet, WA 98612. Every dollar counts!

Carol Wegdahl, Cathlamet
