Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
A dozen young members of the Wahkiakum 4-H Chapter put their "Hands" and "Hearts" into a morning of community service on Thursday, April10.
With the guidance of adult mentors, the youths cleaned up the Cathlamet Library and Community Center grounds, pulled weeds, and improved the appearance of the areas near the main library entrance, parking lot, and flagpole.
Cathlamet Kiwanis Club member and Town Councilmember Dick Swart, who stopped by to encourage the volunteers, praised them for putting service above self during their Spring Break holiday. Mayor Dale Jacobson, called away on another matter, sent a message thanking 4-H for their public-spirited help. Retired Town Librarian
Connie Christopher enjoyed reconnecting with young volunteers she knew during her years with the library.
