Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
April 7 – 10:55 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Grays River home to aid a woman with a problem related to diabetes. 6:41 p.m. The Skamokawa Fire Department responded to the report of smoke at the site of a previous barn fire in the Skamokawa area. 9:19 p.m. A caller reported a possible DUI traveling west on SR 4 near County Line Park. 9:39 p.m. A Rosedale resident complained about being bitten by an unknown, injured cat that had gotten into the home.
April 8 – 3:42 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient to the hospital. 4:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Skamokawa business to aid a woman with abdominal pain. 5:25 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an older woman who was pushing a cart west on SR 4 in the Elochoman area. 7:21 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported seeing a suspicious male dressed in black; the individual would run away every time a vehicle would approach the area. 7:46 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a possible case of phone fraud.
April 9 – 7:35 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid an elderly Grays River resident who was having difficulty breathing. 11:48 a.m. A caller reported a disabled truck on a blind corner of SR 4 at the east end of the county. 2:27 p.m. Deputies responded to a Skamokawa residence after a report of an individual “freaking out” and “hitting himself.” 2:34 p.m. A caller reported hearing shots fired in the Elochoman Valley. 9:52 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet residence to aid an ailing child. 11:48 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a prowler; the male subject was “creeping around” while uttering the word “whoopee” repeatedly.
April 10 – 1:11 a.m. 911 lines went down in Clark, Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties. 4:56 p.m. Two nude children were seen playing on a street in the Elochoman Valley; the caller was concerned that they were unsupervised. 5:00 p.m. A caller reported that an abandoned trailer had been left on his property. 9:57 p.m. A smoke alarm was activated in a dumpster in the Rosedale area.
April 11 – A caller reported that two cows had gotten loose on Puget Island; the owner was notified. 4:17 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported property damage and a possible theft of cedar. 4:39 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that a large truck backed into his home, causing damage, and then drove off. 6:40 p.m. A caller reported that a family member had threatened to harm himself; an advocate from mental health responded. 9:51 p.m. A call was received from an individual who had chased down a vehicle that had driven off after hitting a parked car; one was taken into custody.
April 12 – 2:09 a.m. An assault was reported at a Skamokawa business. 3:06 p.m. Deputies responded to the report of a vehicle in a ditch on Puget Island. 7:36 p.m. Several items were reportedly stolen from a Skamokawa residence. 9:07 p.m. An Alger Creek resident reported that a vehicle had been driving up and down the road shining lights into his house. 9:13 p.m. A Rosedale resident complained about two suspicious individuals who had been hanging out in the area.
April 13 – 6:59 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Rosedale residence to aid an elderly woman who was ill. 10:03 a.m. A caller reported that there were 20 cows in the parking lot of Health and Human Services in the Elochoman Valley; a deputy responded and found no evidence of cows. 11:56 a.m. A caller reported children riding an ATV without helmets in East Valley. 1:32 p.m. A caller reported that horses had gotten loose in Middle Valley. 3:39 p.m. A caller reported that horses had gotten loose in Middle Valley; the owner was advised to take extra precautions after it happened the second time. 5:55 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported being assaulted by a family member; one was taken into custody. 6:20 p.m. A caller reported that a “closed road” sign had been thrown into the ditch in Skamokawa. 9:08 p.m. A caller reported that a dog had been hit by a car on Puget Island and was still alive. 11:47 p.m. A caller reported a car on its side in a ditch in Skamokawa.
April 14 – 3:31 a.m. An individual was seen lying on the side of SR 4 near Flandersville; he was taken into custody.
